10 May 2011 -- The sales of US video games developer Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ:ATVI) in the first quarter of the year exceeded consensus forecast due to the sharp increase in online sales by its Call of Duty franchise, the Financial Times reported.
The group generated USD755m (EUR528m) in sales over the period, 58% of which were registered by Activision's digital online service. Sales of traditional disc-based products totalled USD240m.

Analysts have forecast sales of USD667m which would have meant a profit of USD0.08 per share, while the actual profit per share stood at USD0.13.

The success was partly attributed to the release of additional content for its best-selling Call of Duty.
