M2 PRESSWIRE-4 September 2000-EASTMAN KODAK: Mystic Color Lab expands digital film scanning capacity; Largest single location high speed, high-resolution film scanning capacity in the world (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
RDATE:01092000
Mystic, CT -- Mystic Color Lab, a leading mail-order photo processor today announced that it has developed the largest, high speed, high resolution digital film scanning capacity at a single location in the world.
The company was an early adopter of large volume scanning when it installed PictureVision's PhotoNet digital System (PDS) CL model high speed film scanning equipment in February 1997. Mystic has now installed PictureVision, Inc.'s newest film scanner, the 4B-300, which scans up to 300 rolls of 35mm per hour at 4-Base (1536x1024) resolution. The 4B 300 also scans APS film. Combined, Mystic's scanners give it the capacity to scan over 170,000 high-res. images, daily more than any other digital scanning location.
"The demand for digitization of silver-halide film is growing each month," says Ed McCabe, Mystic's CEO. "Our goal is to offer same-day digitization of both 35mm and APS film, PictureVision's high speed scanners provide us with the fastest, most economical solution for achieving this goal." Using the digital scanners, Mystic is able to create PhotoNet CD's, floppy disk's, and upload photos to Kodak PhotoNet online, a leading online photography site. "PictureVision's mission has always been to enable photofinishers to increase their revenue and profit by leveraging the possibilities created by film digitization and the internet," says David MacWhorter, President, PictureVision, Inc. " Mystic has been very aggressive in promoting its digital capabilities to its customers and is now expanding its capacity to meet increased demand".
